Coldplay have been together since 1996, and are made up of Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion.
Following the release of EPs "Safety" and "The Blue Room", Coldplay's debut album "Parachutes" eventually came out in July 2000, going to number one in the UK, and since selling over 8.5 million copies worldwide. The album featured singles "Shiver", "Yellow", "Trouble" and "Don't Panic".
Next album "A Rush Of Blood To The Head" came out on 26th August 2002, becoming the band's second UK number one, and getting to number five in the US. The album's singles were "In My Place", "The Scientist", "Clocks" and "God Put a Smile Upon Your Face".
"X&Y" was Coldplay's third album, and it was released on 7th June 2005. It got to number one in the UK and US, and with over 13 million copies shifted worldwide, is their best selling album. Amongst the tracks on the album were singles "Speed of Sound", "Fix You", "Talk", "The Hardest Part", "What If" and "White Shadows".
Album number four was "Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends", which came out on 12th June 2008. "Violet Hill", "Viva La Vida", "Lovers In Japan", "Lost!" and "Strawberry Swing" were the singles from the album, which was yet another international chart topper.
"Mylo Xyloto" was Coldplay's next release, in October 2011, which saw their run of number ones continue. It featured popular tracks such as "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall", "Paradise", "Charlie Brown" and Rihanna collaboration "Princess of China".
In 2011-12, Coldplay went on one of their biggest tours yet in support of the album, performing at stadiums in across the UK and Europe, as well as in locations in South America, Africa, Asia and Australia, to over 2.1 million fans.
Sixth album "Ghost Stories" came out in May 2014, becoming the band's sixth consecutive number one album, and their fourth in the US. It featured singles "Magic", "Midnight", "True Love", "Ink" and the Avicii produced "A Sky Full Of Stars".
In November 2015, Coldplay announced their seventh album "A Head Full Of Dreams", alongside catchy lead single "Adventure of a Lifetime". The album was released on 4th December 2015, featuring collaborations with Beyoncé, Noel Gallagher and Tove Lo.
