about Ellie Goulding

Ellie Goulding was born in Lyonshall, Herefordshire on 30th December 1986.

At the end of 2009, she won the BBC Sound of 2010 poll and followed it with a BRITs Critics' Choice Award a few months later.

Her debut album "Lights" was released in February 2010, and topped the UK Albums Chart. It's since gone 2x Platinum in the UK, and has sold over 1.6 million copies worldwide.

The album featured singles "Under the Sheets", "Guns and Horses" and "The Writer", as well as her number four charting "Starry Eyed". She also released a cover of Elton John's "Your Song" for the 2010 John Lewis Christmas advert. The song charted at number two. The song was featured on a reissue of Ellie's debut album, titled "Bright Lights". The re-release featured new tracks "Human", "Little Dreams", "Home", "Animal", "Believe Me" and new single "Lights".

Ellie Goulding released her second album in October 2012. "Halcyon" charted at number one in the UK and number nine in the US. It's since gone 3x Platinum in the UK. The lead single from "Halcyon" was "Anything Could Happen", which charted at number five in the UK Singles Chart. It was followed by the less successful "Figure 8", and "Explosions". In August 2013, Ellie reissued the album under the name "Halcyon Days", featuring her first ever number one single "Burn". Her next single was ballad "How Long Will I Love You", which was released for the Children In Need charity, and charted at number three. It was followed by one final single from the album, titled "Goodness Gracious".

In 2014, Ellie released single "Beating Heart", which was recorded for the movie "Divergent". It peaked at number nine in the UK Singles Chart. In 2015, she released another soundtrack song, this time for movie "Fifty Shades of Grey". The song, titled "Love Me Like You Do", saw Ellie get a number one single for the second time in her career.

On 6th November 2015, Ellie released her third album "Delirium", which peaked at number three in both the UK and US. The album's lead single "On My Mind", went to number five on the UK Singles Chart. 

In 2016, Ellie will go on her "Delirium World Tour". 70 dates are currently announced, with shows announced for both Europe and North America. The tour will begin on 21st January in Hamburg, Germany, and conclude on 21st June at the huge Madison Square Garden in New York City, USA.
