The 1975 is a British born Indie Rock band from Wilmslow, Cheshire. The bands members; Matthew Healy - vocals, guitarist, Adam Hann - guitar, George Daniel - drums, backing vocals and Ross Macdonald - bass all met at wilmslow high school.
Matthew Healy was born in London on 8th April, 1989 and is the son of actors Denise Welch and Tim Healy. He was raised in Newcastle before moving to Macclesfield at ten years old. Adam Hann attended Wilmslow High School, with his band mates. George Daniel was born in Brussels, Belgium but moved to Cheshire where he met his band mates at Wilmslow High School.
The band formed when a local council worker organised a number of gigs for teenagers in 2004. The band began playing a number of covers before eventually writing their own songs. Matthew Healey was the original drummer but the lead vocalist left to start another band so they recruited George Daniel.

In August 2012 the band released their debut EP ‘Facedown’ which lead the band to BBC Radio One where they played the first track on the album ‘The City’. The band's first self titled album debuted on 2nd September 2013. The album shot to number one in the UK Albums Chart on 8th September 2013.
