Jimmy Carr has announced a huge 2016-17 UK tour.
The comedian is currently on his 2015 “Funny Business” tour, which after months and months of shows, finally comes to an end on 30th November.
After a six month break, the “8 Out of 10 Cats” presenter, will be back on the road again, playing over 100 dates.
However, there’s a twist. Rather than bringing out another tour of original material, this one is titled “The Best Of, Ultimate, Gold, Greatest Hits Tour”.
That’s right, after many years of touring, and releasing eight DVDs worth of new comedy material (the ninth on the way after the current tour!), Jimmy is going to do the unheard of, and perform his greatest hits on tour.
Explaining his decision in an interview with NME, he said: “The idea is that I’ve been doing comedy now for about 15 years and I thought I would do a tour of the best bits. Just the good bits.
“Because I’m quite jealous of bands,” he admitted, “You go and see a band, you go and see The Killers live, and they knock out the hits. You go, ‘I wish I could do that’ to a band, and they go, ‘Why don’t you just do that then?’ And I went, ‘Oh right, OK, I’ll do that!'”
He continued: “I think it’s going to be a really fun night out. And also I like that idea of being an entertainer, the idea of taking the best bits of everything that I’ve ever thought of and putting it all together in one night.”
The tour kicks off on 17th May in Peterborough, and at present, continues until 28th November 2017 with a show in Watford. More dates could be added though!
